San Francisco, Dolores Park — Memorial Day ‘10

Just a few snaps of what was goin’ down in the Mission District on Memorial Day. A big, free, sunny public party.

: Buncha people converged on Dolores Park to observe Memorial Day.

: … and there were hula hoopers

: and people gettin down

: … and dogs

: and swings …

: and a band up in there somewhere.

Here’s a short video clip of the band and crowd scene — I tried not to dance while filming, but found it impossible; the band was just kick-ass.

A Sunday in San Francisco

: So this park has a name besides the Beginning Of “Full House” Park – turns out it’s called Alamo Square. It was pretty trashy after the Bay to Breakers run, costume event & all-day partay …

: … so we boogied our slick moves over to the panhandle of Golden Gate Park where it was eversoslightly less trashed …

: … where we met the Panhandle King, who’d been playing in the band that had been jamming all afternoon. His Majesty was very good at hooping, in a king’s mantle no less. (btw, he found that gold tie on the ground about 3 minutes prior to this)

: The King and the Indian. Hooping brings nations together.

: Later we got on a MUNI bus where this Bay-to-Breaker next to Jody did an impromptu 20-minute performance artshow while rapping in 3 languages, all while clearly hammered.

: His show included a pole dancing segment

: And some smoove moves

: He got a huge round of applause when the bus arrived downtown and we all had to get out. And this is why everyone should ride the bus.

When is someone going to invent a breathalyzer that attaches to one’s cell phone or computer, and when the blood alcohol level of the breathalyzed reaches or exceeds a certain limit, makes it impossible to call/chat/text certain people? I guess it could be called the EmbarrasSaver, or the Mortified No More, or the Enabler.

Can someone with technical skills get on this, please? Take all the royalties, just make sure I get one for my phone and laptop.
